Our trek from Seattle to Portland was short, sweet, and full
of laughs:
To be honest, we came into Portland thinking it would be the
Land of Hipsters (we watch a lot of Portlandia). However, we were pleasantly
surprised by the city—we found it friendly, quaint, and overall a great place
to be! We had some fun days wandering about the city and its various
neighborhoods. Here are some of the highlights:
Food trucks for lunch. It's a big thing here!
Visiting the Portland Art Museum. Of course they had an exhibit dedicated to bikes!
Tasty Mexican food was a staple of our Portland diet
Powell Bookstore, the largest independently owned bookstore. It's so massive, the books are organized by room (Blue Room, Pearl Room, Yellow Room...)!
We were told we must trek over to Voodoo Donuts...it was worth it.
Beer and movies, one of my favs about Portland
Karaoke (and beer)
We were in Portland over the 4th of July (we
might have made a few jokes about how Portland probably celebrated on the 5th
so as not to be too mainstream). After an afternoon picnic in the famous Rose
Gardens, we trekked over to the the Portland Blues Festival where we spent the
evening listening to great music and watched the fireworks over the water. What
a fun way to spend the holiday!
Thanks so much to our fearless host, Nick, who personally
showed us around the city and serenaded us with his awesome folk music. Thanks
for being a great host, Nick!
And remember, Keep Portland Weird.
